The Soil Project (2011 – 2012) combines a live performance, photo, and website installation. Embodying the imagery of death through ideas of growth, dancers Robin Neveu Brown (pictured) and Tara Lee Burns step and search for footing on the moving suface of each other’s bodies. In film and photo, Brown’s hyper-slow, sparse movements accent her shivering body, caked in black, moist, dirt. The Soil Project comments on the resilence of women, despite the countless historical assaults, traumas, and microaggressions supported by the patriarchy.
